Network prerequisites¶
Required internet connections during installation¶
During software installation, we often need to install or update 3rd party components.
- Microsoft Powershell 7
- Microsoft .net runtime
- Python runtime
- Python packages - alternatively load packages from an internal python package repository such as Nexus
- OctoSAM Software (https://octosoft.ch)
Required internet connections during operation¶
Application server to Database¶
The OctoSAM server components communicate with the SQL Server using standard protocols. See Microsoft Documentation.
Microsoft Graph API¶
The OctoSAM import service needs to connect to Microsoft Graph. See Microsoft Documentation.
Adobe cloud REST API¶
See Adobe documentation for API urls.
ServiceNow REST API¶
When using a bi-directional connection to ServiceNow the import service calls the ServiceNow REST API.
OctoSAM catalog Updates¶
The OctoSAM import service updates its catalog from the Octosoft Website https://octosoft.ch Allow outgoing connections from the import service to https://octosoft.ch
Telemetry data¶
During catalog updates, the import service sends telemetry data to Octosoft.
Minimal telemetry data can be set in the appsettings.config file, see CatalogUpdate:MinimalTelemetrySet documentation in the sample configuration file.
If minimal is selected, only the mandatory data is sent to Octosoft.
However, we strongly recommend sending the complete telemetry data set.

This data helps Octosoft to better support your installation.
